World event issues again, but at least it started…
- want to play with your party? nope
- you don’t like pvp? fuck you
- want to play your class? too bad
- don’t like one aspect of the game? you’re a traitor
- not a 13-year-old that likes hunger games? now you are!!
I know I’m going to pull…
Finally, after over 5 years of waiting Guild Wars 2 is going to be unveiled in all its glory to the masses (Well those who prepurchased) and with this unveiling comes a huge amount of pressure.
Almost all of the people taking part this weekend have already given ArenaNet their money. Despite constant reminders that this is a Beta, if the impatient hordes have proved one thing it’s that they don’t listen. They’re going to be walking into this weekend expecting a perfectly polished game and they’re going to be disappointed. Does this mean I think the game will be a wreck? Not at all, in fact I’m expecting this to be one of the most polished and complete beta events we’ve seen for a while. All of the content has been seen before, save Lion’s Arch, at conventions or press beta events. Now is the time for ArenaNet to show off their professions, their combat and most exciting of all their dynamic world.
So what do I expect to see? Well, I intend to play a Human Mesmer when the game goes live later this year so I’m going to be avoiding the Human personal story like a plague. Instead, I’m going to be mind crushing my enemies with a siberian tiger coloured Charr mesmer, giving the race which appeals to me the least the chance it deserves. This weekend is going to be, for me at least, about learning how to play as a mesmer. I intend to tackle as much PvE content as possible, hopefully take a few short videos and screen caps, and post it on tumblr for those who won’t be in the beta to see. I intend to see if my chosen weapon combo, sword + pistol, is viable and if not; do everything I can stats, traits and gear wise to make it so.
Content wise I’m looking forward to the dynamic events the most. Being able to fully explore a zone of my choice, at whatever level I want, and find something new to do every time is amazing. For too long MMOs have been creating beautiful and lore rich worlds only to keep you grounded in cities with portals and rewarding exploration with nothing more than achievement points. Guild Wars 2 is finally the game to have created a world as interesting and dynamic as those seen in the Elder Scrolls series, most recently Skyrim. When I hear people reminicse about Vanilla WoW the one thing which stands out to me is how free and open the world was to exploration and discovery, ArenaNet seem to have found a the new way of capturing this feeling, and damn I’ll be disappointed if it isn’t as good as they’ve made it out to be.
So perhaps that blog post wasn’t as long as I expected it to be, typing on your phone is hard, but it sums up what I intend to do and what I hope to show you all. If anyone wants to play alongside me add geriand.1904 to your friends list and I look forward to seeing you all in game!
The Guild Wars 2 beta login screen.
Because login screens are fun!!!!!!!!!
Not usually, but when it’s GW2 they are.
The login screen is genuinely beautiful and the background music jaw dropping. Friday couldn’t come any faster.
Woke up this morning to the thickest fog I’ve seen in a long time. Is it wrong that when I stepped out of the house and put my glasses on “Backside of the TV” began playing in my head?

Just bought BlazBlue Calamity Trigger for my PSP.
While I download it, tell me Tumblr, what do I need to know before I jump in?
